FED: Miller takes swipe at Howard govt in acceptance speech

Aussie film director GEORGE MILLER has taken a swipe at the HOWARD government over
the so-called culture wars .. in an acceptance speech at the AFI Awards last night.

Mr MILLER accused the former government of being detrimental to universities and the
national broadcaster .. saying there are now wiser days ahead under Labor.

He told the audience .. over the past 11 years the ABC has been stripped of it's power
.. while the vitality has been sucked out of our universities.

The 62 year-old director of the Oscar winning animated movie Happy Feet and the Mad
Max films .. was last night given the Global Achievement Award.

It's also been confirmed he'll direct the fourth Mad Max film .. called Road Fury.
