Thinq Technologies Launches EASeval to Help Companies Improve the Quality of IT Training Programs; EASeval Transforms Stacks of Paper Evaluation Forms and Simplifies the Process of Analyzing Evaluation Data.

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 1997--Thinq Technologies Inc., a software company that develops applications for the IT training industry, today announced the immediate availability of its EASeval Student Evaluation System(TM), a training evaluation system that replaces the paper evaluation forms that are commonly collected at the end of a training class or seminar.

Thinq demonstrated EASeval publicly for the first time at the Technology Performance Management Conference today in Nashville, the industry event for professionals responsible for developing IT expertise and workforce performance. Thinq is exhibiting at booth No. 720 at the Technology Performance Management Conference, which runs through Sept. 17.

EASeval(TM), Thinq Technologies' debut product, is inspired by and designed specifically for the IT training industry. EASeval makes it easier for training organizations to monitor quality and improve their business practices to achieve continuous quality improvement.

By using computerized evaluation forms to collect student feedback into a single database, EASeval provides quick and easy analysis of evaluation data. EASeval offers a level of functionality that paper-based systems simply cannot match. Its singular purpose is to provide training organizations with timely information for improving their business.

Thinq Technologies is founded by former Oracle Education executives whose management background and expertise assures a true understanding of the special requirements and problems facing IT education and training organizations.

"Every training organization that still collects paper evaluation forms -- forms that often end up as stacks of unread paper -- will appreciate never having to look through another stack of paper searching for comments and ideas," said Dick Rozic, Thinq Technologies president.

"Ironically, most training companies are too busy to implement the very technology that they help others to master; they're too busy to solve their own business problems. Our business is creating software solutions so our customers don't have to, and with EASeval, training organizations now have an enterprise solution for improving one of the most familiar, yet underutilized aspects of their business -- the student evaluation process."

Initial industry reaction also has been favorable toward the way Thinq Technologies and EASeval are approaching IT education and training. "There are probably hundreds of thousands of paper training evaluations created annually -- each containing a tremendous amount of valuable data -- that cannot be effectively collected and analyzed, due to manpower or technological limitations," said Ellen Julian, research manager, training and education research, International Data Corp. (IDC).

"The development of a new business management software solution to manage this process is exciting. This new solution will help IT training organizations better manage their operations."

Key Product Features

EASeval is designed to be flexible and to accommodate real-world training environments including stand-alone training networks, customer sites, third-party classrooms and even hotel training settings. EASeval provides the methods and tools for getting all evaluations into a single database no matter how and where they're collected. Its four basic evaluation collectors cover just about any training situation: -0-

-- the Client/Server Edition for fully leveraging a private network -- the Internet/Intranet Browser Edition for minimizing software installation -- the Portable Edition for when there is no network (diskette-based) -- and an interface for entering or scanning paper forms

Once collected, evaluation data are turned into information and reports that are meaningful to a training business. EASeval reports can be sorted by instructor, course title, location, student, and company information, providing an almost unlimited number of ways to analyze evaluation data; analysis that can only be imagined with a paper-based system.

Scaled Pricing Model Makes EASeval Practical for Everyone

Available for purchase directly from Thinq Technologies, EASeval is priced to scale to any size organization. For small- to medium-sized training organizations, Thinq Technologies offers a tiered Transaction License pricing structure which is based on the number of evaluations a customer expects to use each year. The cost of purchasing evaluations ranges from $1.85 to as little as 14 cents per evaluation, depending on the quantity purchased.

For large training organizations, Thinq Technologies offers a Perpetual License that covers all evaluation forms stored on one server or repository. The cost of a Perpetual License is $26,875 plus support.

EASeval currently runs on Windows 3.1x, 95 or NT platforms. Server requirements include a multi-user relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, Informix and Sybase), an Internet/Intranet server (for Browser Edition) and a network connection to all clients (Client/Server and Browser Edition).
